The cause for this was an unsuccessfull remount of the scratch filesystem, where the filesystem was unmounted but could not be mounted again. The remount was necessary to enable filesystem quota again which was mitakenly disabled during the installation of the cluster.

The problem has been resolved, but it will take some time for the quota information to be rebuilt.
