Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Kuch heads the projects together with two physicists from Martin-Luther-Universität Halle and TU Munich. The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research has granted the project around two million euros.

News from Sep 01, 2019

The researchers are developing high-speed data acquisition electronics for the large-scale research equipment at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB). The new electronics will allow researchers working at BESSY II to re-examine their time-resolved experimental data and thus to carry out measurements more efficiently.

Thanks to the electronics, the measured data can be immediately logged at the correct time. The stored raw data allow scientists to jump to any point in time after the experiment is over and apply a different time grid. To make even better use of the electronics system, the researchers are also setting up laser equipment to stimulate samples by ultrashort pulses. This allows scientists to study the dynamics of matter on a picosecond time scale.
